I joined over the weekend. My first & only character is a Spaniard ___ Archibald (I forgot my fictional first name I'll mod this entry when I find the first name ) I just got time & found beta is supposed to be ending soon (so anyone wanting to join the beta -- do it very quick like when you read this). Just go to their download partner: www.fileplanet.com/181240/download/Pirates-of-the-Burning-Sea-Client-(Full)It gives a beta key, which gives you a lot of gold initially. ----------------- So, It's better graphics than older games like MxO -- but I feel empty -- not so thrilled as I was 2 years ago when I first tackled MxO. THE GOOD: Beatiful look. Good options for 1 to 3 hotbutton toolbars (each with 10 buttons). Helps beginners with mission to mission on every miniscule detail of what's happening. Expandable -- user content to made flags & use them in their societies. THE BAD: Actually after a few missions, I see there was places to run around & things to click on but I felt like it didn't have much challenge. What was challenging is manuvering & destroying naval battles. Actually even if you're ship is like 100 times better than a weak enemy it's like a b*tch to manuever & get in position (right speed, angle of approach, etc. to fire the cannons). It my biggest challange & yet I feel frustrated more than challenged in doing the sea battles, perhaps it's changing winds, but I feel it's slow & not presently giving me all the options I'd want. The missions are ridicuously easy. Much running to learn which is fine but so far it's just not intriging enough to me. I hope that the players would have more interations rather than just talk in town (any MMO does that). ++++++++++++ GLIMMER OF HOPE: My Hope in addressing my issue - I hear as you progress in levels you get more gadgets to do better at sea battles. I know there's a slew of training for swordfighting & that's where I can mostly port my MMO skills but seems like only 1/3 of the game. Basically, it's a tad better than GuildWars but it'll carry a much higher cost giving it'll be that $15/month in a few days (or within a month as the pre-release is going on very soon). Try it & tell me what you like or don't like. Would you pay $15/month to say with this game? (since it's SOE now & seems like it'll be part of the Station pass, that's a positive) ave
