MKT Guide
Master Knife Thrower
By Tseng
You may not be able to wear V's "Guy Fawkes" mask, but hopefully with this guide you'll be throwing knives with the best of them. So, polish up your blades and break out the sharpening stone as we discover the joys of Master Knife Thrower!
Master Knife Thrower (MKT) is generally viewed as a free-fire class with many movement debilitating attacks, making it perfect to pick off your opponent from a distance. Many of the attacks can also be used in interlock, not to mention all of the Assassin abilities that are also available to you.
You can get your first taste of knife throwing at level 8 with the Neuro Dart ability, located in the Cutthroat tree. It's readily available from all operative vendors in Richland. Even though it doesn't do any damage, it will hinder the speed of your opponent and prevent him/her from Hyperjumping away. As you progress further, you'll gain access to abilities that keep your opponent stationary whilst dealing high damage to them.
MKT is rather unique in the fact that none of its abilities require a state to use, although some abilities deal extra damage or a chance to stun, for example, if a state has been applied to your opponent. Some abilities, such as Staggering Throw, require you to be either using a disguise or in Sneak for the move to be properly executed.
Beneath is the main branch of Master Knife Thrower.
When using MKT, the Spy Style will be activated. It is very important to not free-fire with a gun whilst using the Spy tree because this will change your style to self defense.
Once you obtain higher levels, you will be able to load Knife Thrower at level 30, which is later obsolete by the Master Knife Thrower title buff you receive at level 50. You'll want to load this with your Spy Style as they increase your influence points. Shown below is the MKT buff and the influence bonuses it grants:
There are two abilities that grant passive buffs which add on to your influences: Wicked Aim (Level 17) and Deadly Aim (Level 33).
Leveling Wicked Aim up to 30 unlocks the prerequisites for the abilities beneath, allowing you to progress further in the tree; but you shouldn't forget to level Wicked Aim up to 50 to take full advantage of the buffs.
Bonus Tips!
1. Diversify
At level 50, you can load the entire MKT tree and still have plenty of memory left over for additional skills. I suggest that you load down to the Leg Sweep ability in the Master Shadow tree. This gives you the bonus of having the Disguise ability, allowing you to be more mobile in your stealth dependent attacks.
It's also a good idea to load down to Punt and Paralyzing Throw in the Master Assassin tree. Punt is particularly nasty as it packs a lot of damage when given the opportunity to unleash it.
2. Tactics
Now we have the loadout sorted , lets move on to how to use it. Firstly, you can either put on that Disguise or get into Sneak if you plan on using any of those Assassin moves, or even launch a surprise attack. Personal preference applies here, as you want to be comfortable with your attack style. Sneak will be more surprising to your enemy, but it could also leave you vulnerable if they spot you before you attack; whilst Disguise is more mobile, yet you will be on show to potential attackers.
The next step is to hit them with Staggering Throw. This move deals high damage with a 50% chance of causing Staggered, which is useful in helping out a teammate who might have a high-damage move that requires the Staggered state in order to perform.
You could then follow this up with a Crippling Throw, which will root your enemy as long as it hits successfully.
Once your enemy is rooted, switch to the green tactic and attempt to break their evade shield. Switch back to the red tactic to increase damage dealt, and proceed to hit them with a Neuro Dart to lower their movement speed. Follow up with Sever Artery to further lower their movement speed as well assome damage over time. This will stop a majority of opponents from moving at all, due to the combination of movement speed debuffs. Switch back to the green tactic and break their evade shield, then switch back to the red tactic. Now, while they're stationary, move back far enough to get a Disguise on and use Suplex on them.
Suplex causes all 3 states automatically, which is very handy for our next step. Hit them with Throat Cutting Throw, which has the additional effect of causing Powerless when the target is Staggered.
Use Deadly Throw afterwards, which has the lovely side effect of causing double damage when used in conjunction with Off-balance from Suplex.
Using Leg Sweep and Paralyzing Throw next is usually enough to take down most people. If not, roll out of interlock, Neuro Dart them, and repeat the process.
3. Inner Strength Regen
MKT uses a lot of Inner Strength (IS) because it is comprised of using specials one after another, so for two memory slots, Execute Program (located in the Hacker Tree) is an absolute bargain. It's right at the top of the tree, so it has no prerequisites. You will require an item of clothing with an IS Regen buff on it, such as the Widows Moor Lenses, to take advantage of the IS Regen bonus in this ability.
4: Shield Jamming Device
You can also invest in a Shield Jamming Device from an item vendor. This allows you to disable their shield much quicker, but you have to be in Sneak to use it. First, put your Shield Jamming Device onto one of your hotbars and go into Sneak. Select a nearby enemy, click on your SJD from the hotbar, and a progress bar will show up underneath your hotbar as it disables their shield. Do not make a move until after the progress bar has completed, then go back into Sneak and quickly Punt your enemy.
In closing, I hope this guide has helped send you on your way to becoming a proficient Master Knife Thrower. Its not definitive, so don't be afraid to mix it up a little. Try new things out and remember, "England prevails!"
