nice.
Seems like a plausable reason to the Microsoft Vista debunkle.
After years of really messing up on O/S xp sort of works. Now they want users to give that up for a flaky versions of bloat-ware.
How about the total lie about using USB sticks for "speed up booting in Vista," some magazine tested and proved it actually was slower to use the feature. Hmmm, last time I saw a feature that was worse to use it (then to avoid it) -- we'd just call it a bug.
Slap a marketing spin & bullet point and voila it's suddenly new & improved (only it ain't).
I think Microsoft & the federal government are the present winners each time someone buys & installs (respectively Vista). Bloat doesn't happen for no reason -- wait this is Microsoft, sorry nix that sound reasoning. Last I heard they hired non-US programmers many in India to write a better vista. Only problem is they got paid by the # of lines of code they wrote. Oh and by the way after the billion lines of code writen to get the monster O/S working (I mean patches within code chasing down other poorly written code). They said "it's so improved" so of coarse you'll need to double the ram & cpu & video cards" to get any semblance of improvement.
Wait what If I upgraded the hardware and just went with Linix? Oh yeah Microsoft have pretty much convinced big business that end-users can never figure out Linix (people are sheep) (sheep are dumb) therefore People must be dumb. This logic worked perfectly for Dell, IBM, Gateway & anyother vender trying to grow profits. They ain't gonna cry foul -- they're on the money train -- chuggy along.
Oh, shit the blue screen of death. Let me see if I can hit send.

I heard they hired non-US programmers many in India to write a better vista. Actually, that is true (or was for a period of time). But it was much more sinister than just hiring non-US programmers. What in-fact happened was, US-programmers were hired for oversea's contracts, but were suprised to realize that they were working month long contracts on a cruise-liner ship, anchored 10-miles outside of the US territory....and 10-miles outside of US-workforce laws. Of course, that is only part of it....they did hire programmers from india, all their support has gone the way of Dell and is being farmed to China/Pakastan/India. And if you own a mac...you're systems are soon to follow in this same path. All macs are now made in China and Apple is no longer verifying all software being bundled into it's new operating system encarnations. I'm not even going bolster that linux is the answer either....if you look at the recent flood of linux distributions like Knoppix and Ubuntu (and it's clones). When you install a live version of a linux operating system, you are also installing every piece of software the live distribution packager put into that system, including all it's bugs and vulnerabilities. I dunno...I'm ranting here....the digital world I have existed in since I was 7, has changed so much and lately it's been changing for the worse. I cannot imagine what I will be like in the coming years when Vista gains the home/business user footprint like XP has now. If you work in the computer support field or as a corporate level programmer for an organization that is windows based, I truely feel sorry for you...it's only going to get worse.

Your feelings of doubt and remorse for us IT people are truly appreciated. Tech Support is not a nice place...

Actual quote from a friend of mine in tech support:
Luser: My computer won't boot up. Friend: Have you checked that the power cord is plugged in? Luser: Of course I have! I'm not an idiot! Friend: I know, but just humor me. Luser: I know that the cord is plugged in just tell me what else could be causing this! Friend: Please just check the cord and powerpoint... Luser: OK OK!!!! *scramble scramble*...............oh, well this is embarassing. Friend: It was unplugged wasn't it? Luser: Yeah I'm going to hang up now.
Sad thing is, this was a Luser from a government department. My friend worked as a tech support for a government agency.
