I'm liking this game quite a bit even though I'm laggy as hell sometimes. All my fault. Underpowered system (laptop) and running it on a wifi network.
The cinematic style is something I enjoy a great deal. Having to think a bit about the quests instead of being held by my hand like a lot of mmo's is also something I like. I seem to be doing a lot of running around but that's okay. Allows me to get familiar with the environment.
It took me a bit to realize I might have to look stuff up on the net so I can figure out clues. It was during a mission involving figuring out a composer. Drove me nuts for a bit trying to find a better clue in-game but I got there in the end. Not sure how I feel about that but it's nice to have a functional in-game browser for that.
One point I do have issue with is the apparent lack of ability to alter body shape in character creation. It's a minor thing but something that bugs me a bit. Maybe I want a guy with a pot belly? Maybe I want my dude to be skinny? If there are body customization controls I missed them. I can understand the logistics of why they don't let you do that but it's a fairly common feature these days.
Combat is interesting. The ability and skill point system is one I can understand fairly easily with my MxO background. I decided to concentrate on blade initially and just recently added some assault rifle. I thought I should get something with a bit of range even though I was doing pretty good with just a sword. Combat is fluid and interesting. My play style gravitates towards standing in one spot and laying waste until I'm dead or have to chase stuff down. I'm slowly getting how dodge works and with minimal movement (due to the wifi issue thing) I can survive pretty well. It ain't interlock but it's okay.
Graphics are nice even on low settings. I'm encountering some slow load times on textures but I'm pretty sure that's all me and not the game. Positive actually.
The crafting system was a bit perplexing at first but once I actually found some of the tutorial missions in the first mission map (sheriffs office and raven knock?) I got the hang of it. Weird that you can't buy toolkits except at the auction house. I read they drop from mobs though so I'm looking forward to having some fun with that.
The environments are well done. I really like the first map you end up on but I'm partial to zombies so it might be influencing my opinion.
Overall I'm having a lot of fun playing this game even on a system that the game likes to remind me is below minimum specs. And I'm on a wifi network. Lag can be hell sometimes but I'm having a good time.
