## June 6th 2005 ##
Today was my birthday. I didn't celebrate. Thinking about it there's no-one I really want to celebrate with. There's Nikon and his friends but he's small hacker trash, although that girl who always rolls with them is pretty hot, what' her name. Carla! That's it. Anyway, it didn't FEEL like my birthday, it doesn't feel like any day, all the days seem to merge into one.
Another day, another search. I thought I came close the other day. Someone jumped onto my line and claimed to be from the other side of the looking glass but I ran a network hack on their system and it was a false alarm, just another kid dicking around trying to drop a daemon onto my drive. I showed him that Ceege wasn't someone to mess with and dumped his whole drive into cyberspace.
I've been searching for three years now but it's not like I haven't found anything. I found a question that I've mentioned before. You know the question by now.
What is the Matrix? Sometimes I go onto SAR lines and just post this question hoping for an answer. Tonight is no exception, here I am, writing this whilst the same question lingers on my screen. Please someone.
## June 8th 2005##
I turned twenty one this week. Another decade gone. At least I quit that crappy software programmer job, there was too much "Metacortex is providing too much to our city, we are still the second biggest, we need to be on top, blah blah blah".
To be honest though, this job at Janus still alienates me but I get to drown out those thoughts with some thumping techno music every night. I gotta get the subway in from Richland but Downtown is quite a sight at night. Bar tending has it's perks too. I get to flirt with some hot girls every night as they order their vodka mixers. Still they ain't no Carla. But it's better to stare at them than those old crappy IBM's they use at the old place. I was at work tonight, it's surprising how many come to party on a Wednesday. It was weird though. There was this one guy. Dressed in this, well, it was a pretty rad black suit. But honestly, shades inside a nightclub? I thought they'd hired new security until Sophia told me otherwise. The guy gave me the creeps. I felt as if he was constantly looking right at me, I wanted him to take his shades off so I could see whether he was. Then I turned to serve a large group, turned around and he'd gone. If only he'd come to give me the answer I spent the most of the day sitting there waiting for.
## June 13th 2005##
I haven't written in a few days because the days came and went like one big blur of nothingness. Until last night. I was at work until about one am. It was just like any other night. Hah. That sounds so mystery story cliche. But it was.
I could have sworn I had seen that black suited man once or twice since our first encounter, not at the club but maybe on the subway and maybe once near my apartment. Tonight I definitely saw him again.
There was a man at the club last night. He had the strangest threads, but to be honest, something about me thought they were pretty cool. He had a long, shiny black trench coat, a fedora hat like a 30's gangster and to top it off he had a black bandanna over his face like a modern day westside rapper. He spent the entire hour he was there sitting on one of the red sofas, occasionally looking around but mainly looking at me, at least that's what it felt like but like that goverment agent looking guy he had dark shades over his eyes. Maybe it was the current style! Anyway at about twelve thirty he comes over.
"What can I get you?" I asked him.
"More like what can I offer you?" He said. This guy was huge! Definitely hits the gym everyday, he was quite intimidating.
"We're not hiring at the moment." I replied, thinking he was after a job.
"My name is Rycus. Take this," he said handing me a package.
I looked at it, it was a small box.
"You'll know when to open it, but not now." he turned and looked to the balcony and there again was the suited man. "Our time is up, The Matrix has you friend." And then he turned and did a small run to the exit. The suited man turning and walking to the exit upstairs.
And here I sit. I've fought the urge to open this box for fifteen hours now and I haven't slept a wink. For three years I've been searching for the answers that could lie inside this box and now I have to wait. As I type this I have the box in front of the keyboard. I look around my crappy apartment with it's ugly floral wallpaper coming off the walls and my old tiny bed and ripped sofa. Time for an upgrade! Maybe this box has a million dollars in it. Maybe the Matrix is some kind of secret sect of rich people wanting to help out young hackers like myself. Haha. As if.
I turn and drop a bit of cheese into Calem's cage. I love my rat, only person I trust! Then it rings. The box actually rings. I tear off the lid and inside sits the coolest looking phone I've ever seen. I push the green answer button and the top clicks open, the earpiece revealed.

"Hello?"
"Hello Ceege. My name is Rycus. Unfortunately I'm not from a secret sect of rich people."
"How did you..."
"Please just listen for now. I work for a group called The Pride. You have heard of Morpheus yes?"
"Yeah, he's a hacker. A lot of people believe he is more than that though."
"He is so much more. The Pride exists because of what he and his people have done for us."
"His people? You mean Neo and Trinity? I've heard rumors of them."
"We know you've been seeking for answers. To one question in particular. You know the question."
"What is the Matrix?"
"We can provide you with that answer. You're ready to know. Tomorrow you will be contacted by a man. You've seen him before. He goes by the name Agent Lee. He works for people we don't always trust Ceege. Don't trust him or be swayed by what he has to say. On the fifteenth of June, two days time, we will contact you again. But not by the same line. It can be traced. Destroy this cell phone."
"Ok ok but why the fifteenth? Why not now. I don't understand what the hell is happening to me."
"Please Ceege, you waited over fifteen hours without opening that box, you've waited three years for answers. You have good patience. Please use that patience some more."
"Ok Rycus."
"Goodbye for now Ceege"
"Goodbye."

Rycus was right. But things didn't turn out the way he said. I'm now sat in a half destroyed building in the slum. My laptop power is almost out.
At five pm I received a message on my screen claiming to be some sort of broadcast from HvCft Tiger whatever that is. I've got it on my computer still. This is exactly what it said:
//##// Broadcast from HvCft Tiger //##//
........
Ceege. They've seen your potential and won't take no for an answer. Agent Lee is dangerous and is coming for you. Get out. Get out now. Head to Westview. We'll find you.
-Valaro (a friend of Rycus and a member of The Pride)
I trusted the note. It didn't...feel right whenever I saw that Agent, it felt right to trust this Valaro and Rycus. I threw my laptop in a bag and grabbed my car keys. I hit CTRL+SHIFT+F11+F12 on my PC and watching the bar go up. Deleting all files 100%. I threw a whole block of cheese into Calem's cage, saying a sad farewell. And then I walked out the door, not looking back.
I threw my bag into my 1969 Ford Mustang, my only inheritance from my long gone parents. It had some wear and tear but I never failed to feel cool sitting in the drivers seat of the black car with it's white racing stripes over the hood and top.
I started the engine, took a deep breath and as I exhaled a black car came screeching round the corner. It was coming fast, right at me. I turned around and look hard at the two front seats. Two men sat inside, both with black suits, both with the same familiar dark sunglasses. Shit. Those Agents.
I slammed on the gas. My wheels screeched and slid as I darted away. They slammed into the back of me throwing my car forward. I took a hard left as my back window smashed, I could hear the sound of gunfire behind me. I thought they wanted to recruit me or some crap! Not kill me. I drove straight towards the aqueduct bridge that leads into Westview. It was in my sight. I felt my car jerk sideways as again they slammed into my back left. Another shot. I felt my tire go out of control. I gripped the wheel as hard as I could and kept my foot to the floor, weaving in and out of other cars, who were screeching all over the road as the Agents plummeted into them.
I saw a small waste barge heading towards the aqueduct and to my horror it starting to open to let it through. I was never going to make it. I had to. This was it. After three years I wasn't going to let this small gap stop me get the answers I needed. I kept my foot down as I headed onto the small bridge. I closed my eyes and whispered to myself and to anyone else that could be listening. "Free me". I hit the gap and felt a small jolt. Then I felt like I was flying for forever. The air was in my hair and the final warmth of the setting sun hit my face. Then my car slammed down on the other side. I slammed on my brakes and turned around. They hadn't made it.
As the night time crept in I drove around till I ran out of gas and walked another twelve blocks before coming here. Into one of Westview's many abandoned slum buildings. And so I wait. The cold night taking over.
## June 15th 2005##
I've just awoken. I must have fallen asleep. I can hear footsteps approaching. I'm gonna turn on audio in a sec. This will probably be my last entry in this diary whether for the good or bad. Whoever may read this. Seek the truth until you have all the answers you need. Never give up.

This is Ceege. A current member of The Pride and part of the crew on board Hovercraft Tiger. I have been freed from the confines of The Matrix for two years now.
Thank to Rycus and other members of The Pride I was moved to a nearby building in the district of Westview in The Matrix. It was there that I had an offer. A blue pill or a red pill. One would take me right back to square one, the other would lead me to the all the answers I had sought after for three years of my life. I took the latter. When I next awoke, or rather, when I awoke for the first time, I thought I had died and this was hell. Machines working on humans, plugged into big vats of red liquid. I chocked as I pulled mine out from my throat. I am sometimes haunted in my dreams by these memories. It was shortly after when was told the truth.
All redpills are aware of the days that followed. Muscle regrowth. The training, the jump program, the kung fu, system hacking testing. We've all done it.
In the early days I worked several missions for Tyndall, on my own. Wanting to figure out who I really was. I spent many days just wandering the city I now know as The Matrix. I went to clubs to remember my days as a bartender, but they weren't really my days at all, they belonged to someone else. They were Calvin Tasker's days. I remember meeting Morpheus, he's such an inspiration to us all. I'm so sad he's no longer with us, although some still believe he's out there. A part of me wants to. I'm glad the Merv's assassin is no more but it doesn't mean all our days have been easy. But it's always good to go home after a long days work in the system and weeks on board a ship.
Home. Zion. I have a nice one bedder on level seventy eight. That floral wallpaper has long gone and been replaced with a nice metallic steel. At least it's real, it's home.
I have recently joined a crew. One that felt right. Like it did when I first received a broadcast from the captain two years ago. Captain Valaro. He has taught me so much in the days since my freedom. Because of that I knew The Hovercraft Tiger was the one for me. Karaa is also on there. I see her as a little sister, if such a thing could be possible for redpills. Then there's first mate EichDee, never afraid to speak her mind. She's become a good friend along with Angelis, who is helping fill our crew positions but still feels like part of the Tiger family and who never turns down a party with me at Polyvinyl. I never had a family in my days as a bluepill but i have one now. The Pride is my family and Zion is my home. I will spend the remainder of my days protecting it and protecting the truce Neo died for and The Pride believe in. I now have all the answers I need.
Ceege out.
