Hi Zion Students & Masters alike...
So who wants to help make zion rock PVP again in 2007 (even 2008 for those slow levelers) ?
Please reply on these 5 items (letters a - e) if you want to participate:
a. YES -- Student for PVP on what techniques b. YES/NO -- I can serve as a teacher/mentor & what technique c. I'd rate myself as for xyz PVP ability tree(s) as: 1 (beginner), 2 (familar/Ok), 3 hold my ground, 4 got it wired, 5 (I'm top dawg) -- other vets might want to hear some of my tips
d. Availability -- any comments you choose e. Comments of your choice
------------- Other thoughts, wouldn't a doc on the PVP basics be generally helpful? yes you say?, welll I sent a draft to Pylat last night -- so we'll roll out the basics on PvE/PVP as topics are ready to be written up.
Key to this program is ongoing "One on one" attention -- assigning a student to a master -- on a particular skillset can be quite good way to get focus, even immediate help, & ongoing interaction to truly help as new challenges surge.
Those not lvl40 yet, PVP can be fun but quite challenging -- feel free to reply with signup with any comments like "sure I'll be ready to participate in Mid Oct after my character or my attention span can take on this new focus."

My own response -- yeah answering my own inquiry.
a. Student to Duelist -- my next profession to tackle b. Teacher -- Viral (Vector hybred & Despoiler/Howitzer c. 3.5 (maybe another 40 hours of PVP and I'll probably get to stage 4). d. my availability sucks until Oct sometime e. I'd be glad to practice dueling with anyone needing practice (against a lvl50)

a) Only tree I haven't taken to PvP is MKT, so I guess I might need some tips. b) Can teach Hacker, guns and Proxy hybrids, I'm fair with MA but there are people here who are better. c) 5 with hacker, 4 with guns, 3 with MA d) Available more on weekends, weekdays I'm too tired and grumpy to teach people e) Getting the proxy trees levelled is best for teaching lowbies cause you can make proxies for their level.

thanks Pylat, any other student or teachers... MATRIX-ulation is ending soon so sign up proptly... in fact operators are ready to take your call (or was that operatives are standing by... idlely awaiting to help).
Lately I've elevated my Hacker PVP rating & would say now (Mid Sept) I've definitely hit 4 outta 5stars. Why? well, I've been reguluarly winning against other hackers & guns... & better than 50/50 on MA & MKT -- so I believe I know the ropes to win more than half duels, PVP, maybe it's just I fight sucky people (Pylat we need to duel to see if I've graduated my apprenticeship).

-- COMMERCIAL BREAK, pvp_UNIVERSITY_open again --
Hi new graduates of lvl50 since Fall of 2007.
Also, shout out for those grinding & around level Mid 30s & curious about what's up with PVP.
WHY O' WHY. I find that our organic grown faction-mates do need a springboard to give PVP a chance. Many vets at lvl50 that acquired skills from other factions/associations - moved from another joined the Pride are NOT the target of this msg.
New classes are forming now on "PVP 101", - How do I make xyz type of loadout work best - What are some things to know to keep PVP fresh/sane/intersting. - QA -- Question & Answer session Ex: "I die alot, what am I doing wrong" -- Answer: Depends on who all you're fighting against (& with). Maybe dying isn't as bad as you'd think, perspective shift back to why PVP appeals
Ex: "I attack others as always, what more is there to know?"
Checkpoint on how good or bad (I think is) solo duels -- do you win or lose a lot?
If you lose by big margins... you ought to ask what others are doing that you've not keyed into. (some stuff is NOT obvious & yes you can run missions, fight npc fine but PVP against other real people notches up the use of certain abilities & tactics.
Anyhow -- ingame msg me AND Pylat & we'll find a mentor, help, training, it's interesting to see someone get better at something that's a bit tricky at first.

I would like to pull up a seat for any late June, early July classes that may form as I'm thinking I will be back at around that time. a- student to ummm the patcher tree maybe.... also I want to round out my riffle abilities and try my hand at hacks as well. b- Watch one, do one, teach one. I'd be happy to edjamakate folks on some of the basic combat tactics that I have down already after I shake off the rust. c- 3.5 gunner, 3.0 ma d- well I gotta jack back in first, after that I will know more about my availability e- I also have a good amount of the proxy tree at the ready when the program starts to take off.

umm, i'd like to get back into the game, i've been thinking seriously about it. I'm a newb again at PvP i suppose....I wanna get educated on the Gun/MA combo i had been working on, or Pistol/Something. Anyway, if i can get a class, it might just push me back into this game for another month .

cool beanz. Msg Pylat until Mid Apr (short break -- I expired today & will finish a couple RL things.. like Taxes hehe).
Ascl3pius, proxey coder eh? that's actually rarely used in PVP -- BUT -- when it's used in suprise attacks it ROCKS!
... meaning it's not good as regular PVP loadout, 'cause there's kill ability within coder that does 10,000 damage to your SIM -- it always hits & destroys your SIM. Whole point of using memory spots is to up your offense or defense & with sims it's a thing that some PVP players (myself included) use sparingly.
I have to admit about 5 months ago there was a flare up of folks PVP with coder, I coded up this kill ability & shut them down quickly alright. (lame thing is at Mara C, some PVP near the hardline so it's sooooooo easy & tempting to macro the kill swich ability, then ZAP the sim ad QUICKLY macro back in one's regular PVP loadout to finish off the victom) -- it's like you have 150 mem spots when you can macro in/out shit within 2 seconds. Word to wise, use Sims in PVP only when there's a real reason. My reason as Hacker stat'd & regular setup taskbars was I found a sim_fu did well against some MA -- now with only one hyper-defense probably better but I've been lazy to fix my toolbar to try it again.
Anyhow, you can see I'm pasionate about PVP strategy especially creativity in PVP. Many PVP vets (I'll call Pylat out as example) like to help booster what fun one wants to get out of it -- we're not stupid to think that hitting XYZ number of CQ is going to make you a pro -- best to aim for fun & self-guage.
Those reading & not responding -- no prob if PVP ain't your thing. We know this if PVP "conceptually" isn't fun, I'm not sure any level of advice, chat, suggestions will turn you around so enjoy other things within MxO.... it's all good.

I would love to improve my PvP skills, I roll mostly as a hacker Howitzer/destroyer...but since I hve only attained lvl 41 at the moment I am not too effective 1 on 1, where I tend to be helpful is on a PvP team debuffing opponents and letting lvl 50s take them down...I also have lvld up my MA tree (Karate with a little Kung Fu) but have not really tried it in PvP, just on missions and against gang bosses, etc. Maybe I should lvl up to 50 before studying PvP but I hate grnding missions....woe is me. T
p.s. you asked how we rate as PvPers currently, against people of my lvl (40, 41 and 42) I have done very well against hackers, MA, guns and even MKT, I win many more times than I lose but hard to find people my lvl to fight!

excellent Telemancer.
Always room for another Zion Hacker (hehe -- having a few hackers on a PVP team against the mech zerg is fun).
Yeah, PVP more predictable at lvl50 against other lvl50. Hit & miss with lower level folks... beside at lvl50 you get full access to memory spots (max abiltities load), and buff size (for some things that are buffer intensive like sim_fu but really buff rarely an issue).
Suggestion: Let's help Tele level up, maybe visit ZeroOne Archive_World -- BEST WITH TEAMMATES if you meet the minimum level to teleport there. You get the robot_parts & sell them to BitBoy in Creston Heights for experience (it's a nice alt way to level up instead of grinding).

Thanks Ave, helpful as always! I had no idea you could lvl up by selling robot parts from zero one, that sounds like a nice way to spend some time. I need to farm which soliders in Zero One for the parts? T

It's the lvl 46 and 50 Soldiers you have to kill in 01 for the parts.
In my experience basically any loadout can be effective in PvP if done right. Sims are better if you use Util Master. Either load up a patcher sim and MA, or a hacker sim and then load all the sim buffs and just sit in IL while your sim hax your opponent to death for you.
As for Gun Fu I have been theorizing on how to get it to work more effectively (A few macro's to change styles and tactics at the same time would help), but even at lvl 48/49 I managed to get an awful lot of kills with it using Chron.
