I need help... wat does hyper- sense actually do???
all it is said to do is stop thrown defense but that sounds to small of a defense ability in MxO...
If anyone can give me an answer that would be great.

Hyper-Sense is the ability (much like HyperDodge or Hyperblock) that increases your thrown resistance. Meaning, if someone hits you with a Spy-Tree attack, it will do less damage than it normally would. The base number buff it gives doesn't seem like much, but when you add the pts you get for leveling it to 50, it can be quite handy.
I keep all 4 of the hyper defenses in my loadouts unless I am loaded up as a healer/upgradist. Hyper-Deflect is always running and the other three are chosen based on the majority of who I am fighting against, or the loadout being used while in IL with someone 1v1.

Hyper - Sense, actually increases you defense, decreasing the number of attacks that hit you.
All the hyper defenses increase your defense, not resistance.

I agree with Pylat.
.... (not answering this thread but evil twin in this discussion)
Separate to this thread... it's important to know about resistances: (too low a resistance against an opponent accelerates your death via taking heavy damage on each hit)
Please don't confuse the resistances bonsus (from OTHER abiltities like constant technique) which only REDUCE the AMOUNT of damage you take once you get hit (no impact on hit/miss percentages).
So returning to this thread --> defense is pretty key in PVP, you may only get hit a 3 to 6 times and bamb you're dead , so don't leave a hardline without your Hyper Defenses.

The VAST majority of npc's shoot now. Back in the day they used to interlock, which could prove problematic with the old multi-lock system, but there were lots of complaints and bugs. So now they just shoot bullets at you.

Hyper sense is ok but unless you have a lot of points in reason it won't help as much. The reason for this is because the MKTs title buff and spy style (coupled with there accuracy clothes) will almost always outdo your defence unless you PILE it on (Aikido + Block + Serene calm) the most effective way to fight them is to stop them from even using there abilities, powerless, root them, stun them and such, and always wear a good 200+ resistance if they are about to filter out as much damage as you can. It is a good idea to carry anti 5.0s with you so they can't keep rooting you
I like to drop my shield when they go to break it too, it surprises them a little and gives you a few attempts at getting them in interlock, however they will use cartwheel, sideroll to escape so be careful.
Don't be intimidated NOT to use jump too, it is not cowardly and is more strategic more than anything, a quick jump to the bridge or roof could save your life.

PS. If they have your shield and theres is still up, that is when I meant don't be scared to use jump as they will land a suplex or punt to you which you really don't want. You can try to tough it out but chances are they will spam knives with all those states on and you'll be in even more trouble!
