At first glance of the market and trying to sell extra loot you don't plan on using, one may think that all the items listed are way overpriced beyond reason and items that you list never sell, except some clothes for pennies. Then never bother looking or even using the market again. Many people just recycle everything they don't want thinking its useless. This type of thinking is keeping you from a goldmine of wealth and power.

[glow=red,2,300]Buying[/glow]
When shopping on the market always hit that green colored More button until it turns gray. What this does is allow you to see ALL the items in the category on one page and compare prices and you'll also get to see all the new stuff just put out on the market. Otherwise all you see is all that overpriced stuff that no-one's buying and has been sitting there for many weeks. you'll never find a good deal on a hot tankini or a new suit looking at the first page of shirts. Another good idea is look at stuff well before you can actually use it, you can scope out prices for items for a few weeks before you actually make your purchase, like Yuki or Sukura items, sometimes their a little pricey, then one day the market gets flooded with inexpencive items. You might even see good deal on something you know your gona use, like someone putting a Direwolfskin for $10,000 (usually priced $8-$10 million). Level 20-40 enhanced items can be tuff to find, be diligent and patient, they come and go.
[glow=red,2,300]Selling[/glow]:
When you put something on the market the Suggested Price that appears is usually way off. I for one never go with the suggested price for anything. For one, Armored and Shielded items were close to useless before CR2, and now they have nice Resistance. Yet the prices never changed with these improvements. However most guys wont pay a nickle for Magenta pants and a pink shirt. Use a little common sense. Look around, what are people wearing? EPN love them Machello Prophet Dusters and Triga Trenches, specially the black ones. Machines like the black suits. Check out the Merv's in red or all those people wearing those nice white suits. Girls in those skimpy outfits. These can be priced for anywhere between $200,000 and upward of $1-10 million for a lev50 Armored Ones. Black is defenatly in and some items can be scarce on the market. Operatives taking on bosses or in heated pvp love their health pills, rarely do they use viral pills. You'll definatly sell more health pills then viral pills. Vendors might be an option for the lower level viral pills.
Selling on the market isn't free
Cost of selling things on the market is another important thing to keep in mind. 10% is the cost for upto 7 days. once its 7 days it skyrockets to 50%. After 2 weeks (14 days) it goes to 75% and eventually you'll be charged 100%. Sometimes its not a bad idea to buy something back for %10 after 6 days and stick it right back out there. As long as your pricing it correctly, you'll still get more then waiting for it to sell for only 50%. You can do that for 4 weeks before you get back upto 50% fee. (10% 4 times then selling it at 10% equals 50%, right? i wasn't good with math so just correct me if I'm wrong)
Vendor Items
Another thing is allot of us rich cats are too lazy to go vendor hopping to find something and don't mind paying $50-100k for normal clothes, like for example Black Leather Pants. I've had no problem tossing various items from vendors onto the market and selling them for about $100k. And some normal clothes found as drops aren't even available from vendors! these can fetch well over $100k sometimes.
Have you ever looked at lockpicks on the market? Sometimes theres not even any there! Sure we all know they're at item vendors for $1k but allot of people DON'T. Another item that you can sell for anywhere from $100k-$500k. Other items like this are Advanced Data Node Tappers and Goggles. I even craft these to give that 2-3 pt purity look like a good deal at $500k. Hyperjump is an ability that EVERYone gets at level 10, some are like "these vendors here in Uriah don't sell them" and resort to the market and will blindly pay 50k-200k for it.
And the best thing about vendor items is you don't have to worry to much if it don't sell right away, or even at all. I don't think your gona lose any sleep over losing $1-10k.
HighLevel Enhanced Items
All those high level items are flooded on the market. lev41-50 stuff is bountiful for Enhanced items and usually need to be lowered. And always look at the buffs! who wants +2% sweep bonus? People tend to look for +% for Damage and Accuracy and those tend to sell at a premium.
Weapons
Most Weapons are a hard sell on the market. but the normal ones do give you allot of useful bits! The lev50 weapons like Augmented Pistols or Kesay Rifle sell for $250k-$1million. Enhanced weapons can sometimes be sold if its desirable (damage bonus) and theres no others of that variety on the market. But for most of them your best off selling them to a vendor. I even tryed selling some handgun for $10k (less then i would of got from a vendor) and it sat there for a month unsold.
Code
Code bits need to be increased in your asking price immensely.
$ per Stack of 20
1s 200k-500k
2s garbage, throw them away. or sell for $1900 if its worth your time.
3s 150k-400k
4s 75k-200k
5s 200k-500k
6s 150k-350k
7s 150k-400k
8s hmm... $1,500-$5,000 their pretty common
Red Frags are either useless or worth a million!
some of them aren't even used to make anything? but pick some of those "useless" red frags up that are priced for $10k if your a crafter! you can burn one with the Coder ability and get +5 on all your crafting abilities. Definitely helpful when making something thats questionable for success. Think about what abilities people are using, obviously over half the people use the Operative abilities, and these sell more at higher prices. Tool frags are rarely used, who's gonna pay $100-200k for a frag to make a tool they can buy for $20k or less? consumable frags can be a good sell, but the consumable interface isn't used to make any pills or boosters. Check the market before pricing these if you want to maximize your wallet.
Coded Items are streaky, sometimes they sell, and sometimes they don't. this is really hard for me to give you any advice on. If you do, keep in mind the charges and what the item would usually sell for and that crafters are buying these.
Hidouts and Archives
Hideout Items and Archive Constructs items are the trickiest to sell. The top drops are valuable and should be priced carefully. Check the market before you put a Sukura Bandanna on the market for $15 million. There might be some out there for $5-8 million already. And if thers none out there on a friday, maybe $20 million or more would be a better price. Ultimately though, I'd like to see people share these types of items in the factions! What comes around goes around folks!
People like to look good
For clothes keep in mind the mid range clothes tend to not sell well at times, some do but most don't. besides a level 20 who wants a level 20-25 item? no-one! But yet the low level stuff can sell for a big premium, even much higher then the mid level items. why? cuz they don't take rare red frags to reproduce! When building your wardrobe stock up on the under 20 Difficultly items like No-Level Armored and Shielded Clothes, or the Level 10 ones. Not all but most lev8 stuff is also in this range. These clothes can be easily reproduced, whether it be for contests or to outfit a new alternate, or to help someone out in Uriah, or just to look good while hanging out doing a /leanwalloop at Tabor Plaza.
Allot of high-levels also like all the high level 50 armored variations, sometimes shielded. Theres just not enough variety of enhanced clothes to choose from to define your person with sharp outfits. and these at least offer somewhat descent protection. Price the less desirable stuff for $200k to $500k and the more desirable stuff for atleast a millioin.
Collector Items
Thers also collector items. yeah they may not give you any good buffs and seem worthless to the typical shoot-em up operative, but they actually tend to sell for the most $ out of anything. Bluesky Tshirts and hats, Security Shirts and hats, Neo Frags, Blue Frags, enhanced stakes are just a few examples of stuff that sometimes sells for as much as 10 million each, sometimes even higher, sometimes a little less. supply and demand. I for one have a nice stockpile of party hats i plan on selling over the summer ;D
Make your items look appealing to buy
The purity and stability can be confusing to people. When an operatives gun turns yellow he might immediatly think "oh no! its beat up and i need to repair it!". the truth is it has atleast half its life left and is no-where near damaged. But buyers naturally like nice shiny items with no scratches or tears. Go ahead and repair those items with yellow dots before sellling them, people buy things with 1 fresh green purity point rather then 2 purity points with one of them being a yellow dot. Also, theres a big reason fast food places have $2.99 value meals. It works! Try priceing your $200k stuff for $199k. But dont drop a million dollar item to $999,999 that don't look appealing, too many 9s! It actualy looks more expensive! If you decide to lower a million dollar item go for $985k or $975 or $899 etc etc. And for most items try putting just 1 item at a time instead of compilng up 3 or 5 items of the same thing. There's something that makes it urgent to buy if its "the only one there!". Besides while the rest of the items are waiting to sell after the 1st one, they're also getting closer to that 7 day limit! One last thing that sometimes works, depending on the item. Have you ever seen somthing like 5-8 identical items for something outragious price like $10million? (not talking about rare items, say for example an Armored Shirt) try tossing one of the same for 1 or 2 million. Your overpriced item looks like a good deal!
More ways to sell
Another place to sell besides the market is Mara C. hollering "Widows moor lenses for sale" will garner some interest. Like i say allot of people will be there with no concept of finding good deals on the market. I've even bought some items on the market and turned around and sold them for a quick 5million profit at Mara C (back when i wasn't as popular and could be there without getting flooded with tells). Another place to sell and buy is the mxo forums. theres a section in Syntax - Marketplace. People use this to buy and sell items. But always remember, never blatenly rip anyone off or ask for outragioius prices in public, that makes you and the faction look greedy and it's disrespectful, were suposed to be a sharing and caring faction. Lets keep that image. Ask for fair prices and give away those lionskins, blackwolf coats, corupt hands and female ninja boots for free (if you can, they can actually be hard to GIVE away at times) ... not only makes us all look good but will give you a warm fuzzy feelling inside.
Share with your faction mates
Dont be too greedy, these tips I'm sharing with you I learned from shopping and selling on the market almost everday for well over a year and I'm hoping you can return the favor by sharing some of that extra loot with your faction mates. Offer it out in factin chat. Put a post up in our shared forums for those extra items that may be desirable. The worst thing that could possibly happen is nothing.

These are all just estimates and i price things to sell within a week. sure you may have sold something for mega-millions once or see some things listed as a certain price, but keep in mind after one week you only get 50% of what your asking and only 25% after 2 weeks! (ex. you only get $250k for something priced at 1 million after 14 days) And sometimes yes, you CAN sell something at a highly inflated price! And second, what you see priced on the market is actually UNSOLD, not SELLING. If something is priced for X amount and sitting there for over 2 weeks, what makes you think you can sell if for the same price? The market is very fickle. prices can go up or down, its all a matter of supply and demand! if you put stacks of code bit 1s for 250k (like lets say 10 stacks) and they don't sell, check the market, chances are someone under-priced you and there's a bunch there for less! Also keep in mind thers not thousands of people buying, and there is no 1 money making item. I cant stress this enough, its the most important thing when selling on the market put variety out there, don't go with a bunch of the same item!
[glow=red,2,300]An Entirely Different Method of Sellling[/glow]
If this is all too confusing for you and just don't want to haggle over prices or think about whats hot and whats not, just sell your guns and upgrades (pills boosters, stakes, silver bullets, holy water) to a vendor; ask someone in the faction about your rare hideout or archive stuff, and then price everything else on the market for a Million $$$. sure most wont sell, but allot WILL
