Anome really was a bastard.....but he had himself useful. That device, back from when Veil escaped, that he had an operative plant in the Machines' systems got us a lot of data. Back then....all we cared about was getting Veil back. But....
Taka was still awake, in the middle of the night. His desk was strewn with schematics of ship designs, papers full of calculus equations, a small computer screen full of code, and a half drunk glass of water. Drowsiness flowed over him as he tried to work. There might be something useful in this data. Who knows....
He continued his search through the now ancient data until he found something interesting. It was labelled "PL-47 experimental flight unit". We....missed something this major? What the hell is this?
Typing furiously, Taka tried to open the data on PL-47. Unfortunely, the data was encrypted. He immediately ran it though the usual decrypter, impatiently waiting for the finished product to come.
Alas, his search was in vain. The decryption was a success, but the data was corrupted. That's probably why it wasn't mentioned. They couldn't get anything out of it.
Later that night, Taka laid in bed, unable to sleep. The sequence "PL-47" ran through his head over and over again, neverending. Someone's gotta know what this means. Someone, and I'll find out who, even if I have to go to the machines to do it.
((Forgive me for the low quality of this post. I'm at work so I don't have time to go over and proofread it and clean it up. This is what my rough drafts look like))
((On another note, I was thinking of possibly making this into an RP and trying to bring Veritas Lucias into it. What do you guys think?))

Taka sighed as the Binary Revolution set down in Believer Base. Ah, Believer Base. What a sight to see.
The usual course of action was taken as always whenever the Binary arrives. Taka grabbed his bag, with the signature TTB logo sewn into the side, and headed for the cargo bay.
When he arrived, the freeborn denizens of Believer Base were already beginning to unload the salvage that they had uncovered. Taka began to assist them in their duties as well as giving a few orders here and there. "Take that load there to hydroponics, they might be able to do something with it. Hey, be careful with that!"
"Taka!" came a cry from the main entrance to docking bay 6. He spun around to see a young girl, around the age of 19 or so, running towards him. "Heh, hiya Live," he said as she came closer to him, a large smile on her face.
Livewire was a newcomer to Believer Base. A convert from Zion, no less. She was a researcher at Zion, specializing in biological research. Taka didn't know what to think of her with her spunky attitude towards both research and life. She'd help from time to time with his designs for new hovercraft, especially since he tended to make hovercrafts that people couldn't necessarily control.
"We got it! We've figured out how the ports work with the human circulatory system without letting in pathogens!" she beamed at him. "Give us about 3 months or so, and we'll have our own versions! Do you know what this means?"
"What?"
"This is the first step to making our own cranial jacks! Can you imagine? The Matrix?"
Of course I can. I just came from it...
"Anyway, Live, can you do something for me?"
"Sure, what?"
"Send all the data that Anome got a few months ago from his little 'device' to my office. Also, send out a message to Aaroun that I need him to try to get more data out of this corrupted file."
"Um, sure. What corrupted file?"
"Not entirely sure. But this could be a huge break for us in the research department. This....PL-47."
"Alright...if you say so. I'll go do that right now."
"Thanks. I owe you one."
Taka walked out of the bay, back towards his office in Believer Base. Blast...I need a break. But now is not the time...
Sitting down at his desk, he opened up a text file. He certainly hoped that this would work.
To (I'll fill this in later): Your help is urgently needed. I've found a mysterious, yet corrupted, file which, I believe, can help both Zion and the True Believers. I'm not sure if the file was supposed to get out, therefore I beleive the only place it currently exists is in 01. Therefore, I request access codes to 01 for the sole purpose of finding the original copy of said file. I am willing to negotiate on payment for such an opportunity. Also, I am willing to be monitored to ensure that I get this file and this file alone. I await your response.
Sincerely, TakaOkami - Department head of Research and Development for The True Believers
Taka mulled over his message. He needed to run it past Skyscream before he sent it to any machine faction. But who could he send it to?
We trade some technology with Veritas Lucis, but I'm unsure how much access they have with 01. The Tetragrammaton probably wouldn't help us...who could we ask?
While he was pondering these ideas, Livewire came into his office carrying a data disk.
"Network's down. Here's the data you requested."
"Aye. Thanks, Live."
Nice girl, with a good head on her shoulders. If she keeps it up, I'll promote her to assistant head of research.

((This is a roleplay. Therefore, I'm waiting for other inputs.....it's open, so somebody, contribute!))
edit:((Halcyon pointed something very obvious out to me....so I'm going to go do that right now.))
It had been about 3 hours since Livewire left his office to continue her work. Taka stared at codes, specifically schematics of machine crafts. Sentinels, a sketch of a leviathan, even the diggers and all of their different types were available to him. However, not one of the model numbers had the prefix "PL". It didn't make sense.
A specialized model prefix. Nothing remotely familiar with this model. This bodes poorly, but it could be our lucky break. I've got to do something, but what can I actually do?
It hit him like a ton of bricks. It was so obvious, that he was surprised that it didn't happen earlier.
This is special, so we need to treat it as such. An envoy, a group, dedicated to figuring this out. Nothing too terribly long term...Zion and the Prophet are more important after all....but still important nevertheless.
Taka reached for the keyboard at his desk once more. The night hours ticked on, the denizens of Believer Base slept, while he typed at his computer. After about 2 hours, he left his office to go to sleep.
The next day, the operatives of Believer Base awoke to this message within their inbox:
To the True Believers:
This is a call. A special assignment awaits anyone who answers this call, pending Commander Skyscream's permission. This mission is quite dangerous and only the most skilled should apply for said mission. Those with good diplomacy skills are the most preferred.
The mission in question involves communication with other operatives; specifically, machine operatives. If for some reason diplomacy fails in this mission, you will not be returning alive to Believer Base. I know that bodes poorly, but I must emphasize the importance that diplomacy has in this mission.
Specialized crewmembers are also requested for the following jobs: Pilot (for main hovercraft) Pilot (for experimental Susano-class hovercraft or Dragonfly-class hovercraft) Research associates Operator
I urge all of you to consider this message. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, TakaOkami - Department Head of Research and Development for the True Believers
A specialized message went to Livewire.
If you don't mind, I would like you to be the operator. -Taka
I have no idea why I sent that last one...

The Nosferatu's operator station rang out again. It was a soft, electronic noise almost like a bell that would sound every so often while Pirathonite's operator sat there. He had learned to ignore it for the most part, though occasionally the ringing would come in the middle of an important mission, several times a minute, and it pissed him off. He had no idea what was causing it, having fished through the operating system of the sleek, machine-built hovercraft for a couple of hours one day to no avail.
But today, Pirathonite walked by just as the bell was going off. "What is that noise?" he asked. "I keep hearing it from the cockpit sometimes."
His operator shrugged his shoulders and continued to play around with an image capture of Agent Pace.
Pirathonite moved to the control station, shoving him aside, and ran the mouse over various screens and items until he found something that looked like it might be important, or just updated: Outlook, an old, outdated mail program only used inside the Matrix. He opened it to find thousands of messages, all with their titles in bold and little flags marking them as "unread." The strangest part was the sender of these messages: "HvCFT Antioch."
He opened the one at the top of the list.

((Oh, nothing wrong with the cypherites doing something. Taka just wouldn't think of the cypherites while trying to come up with a list of mech operatives. It would be out of character for him.
And to your question about how the machines launched the PL-47, personally, I think they've are more technolgically advanced than we give them credit for.))

Taka's terminal beeped. Then it beeped again.
Taka looked up from his desk with sleep still in his eyes. The terminal beeped again. He shook his head and realized there was an incoming message routed directly to his terminal from ... somewhere ...
Taka.
He reached out and typed in a response.
Yes.
It's Sky. I'm still in Zion. You're insane. I don't like it but I made you head of research and development for a reason. Try contacting Leelia. We go way back. Used to fight shoulder to shoulder. I understand why she does what she does.
Understood
Be careful about spies. They're everywhere.
I will.
Stay frosty. Sky out.
The screen suddenly went blank. Taka wondered exactly how much control his commander had over the base. She was very secretive. He could understand why though. The scars don't show in the Matrix .... but they do in the real.
--------------------------------------
Sky pulled the plug on her connection and looked around. It was a terrible risk to hijack communication lines in the middle of her mission in Zion. She had to though. They were the future. She had to make sure her family was okay. With a glance down the dark hallway she began moving through the shadows again. If it wasn't for spies she wouldn't be here. She would be there. Helping instead of trying to track down an assassin in Zion.
"Peace my ass... " She mumbled and walked back out into the light.

It was the middle of the night. However, not everyone was asleep. Livewire began packing her things. She was ready to go, but where?
However, Taka was back at his desk, furiously typing again.
To the True Believers:
I am sorry to have to inform you of this so shortly after the initial request. Negotiations between our possible machine ally and ourselves have failed. A negotiation mission will not be taking place.
To those who were ready to respond to the call, I sincerely apologize.
To those who were ready to respond as a pilot to one of the experimental craft, you'll have your chance. Report to my office at your convienence.
Sincerely, TakaOkami - Department head of research and development of the True Believers
Upon reading this message, Livewire dropped her gear in shock. Her big chance with Taka, blown. Furious, she stormed to Taka's office.
He's not here...where the hell would he be?
She wandered the halls of Believer Base, searching for Taka, but to no avail. Just as she was about to give up, she heard a sound come from a nearby room. That room is the archive room. Usually locked....who the hell is in there, especially at this hour?
She pulled out her pistol. "Show yourself!" she cried. Her fingers tightened on her pistol, gripping it tightly. Her inexperience showed itself in her near-panic as she turned the pistol towards the source of the sound.
The intruder in the archive room stood quickly, shocked by the shouting teenager. Instinctively, she fired. The bullet tore through the intruder's arm, sending a splatter of blood across the wall of the room.
She walked closer to the injured man laying in pain on the floor. I did it, I stopped an intruder! Taka will be proud!... Her joy turned to horror, however, when she saw the man on the floor. Taka stared back at her, the pain causing him to wince in great agony. His blood poured out over his arm, dripping onto the floor.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Taka gasped, "Get.....a bloody doctor...."
Livewire, obviously crying now, ran out of the room without saying anything to Taka. Blasted girl...Now I'm in trouble. He looked down at the data disk in his hand. This disk is extremely important...who knows what Sky will do to me if she found out I got this... He shoved it into his pocket and began to walk, wincing in pain whenever he moved his arm, towards the medical bay, all the while, telling fellow Believers about a "weapon misfire" that took out a bit of his arm.

It had been two days since the incident.
Taka's arm had been healing well. He covered for Livewire's firing, claiming it was a misfire with her firearm. A freak incident, the investigators called it.
But it still happened. She knows that I was there. I was in the archive room. I'm not sure if she suspects...but I can't take that risk.
Of course, Believer Base waits for no man. Taka spent his days healing working with his research associates with their schematics and equations.
"By the way, have we taken the Susano for a test run?"
"No, sir."
"Fix it to the fourth mothballed hovercraft. Schedule the test run for a week from today."
"Aye, sir."
"Sir, what about the Amaterasu schematics?"
"Oh....well.....you can continue your work on that. It's way in the future anyway. But get that Susano set up for the test run. Fully operational."
"Aye, sir."
The doctors discharged Taka that afternoon. "Keep from using that arm too much, alright? Take your desk job and stop working on those prototypes of yours for about two weeks."
Heh, if only he knew...
That night, there was a knock on Livewire's door. "Let me in....it's Taka..." she heard a whisper from the other side.
"Taka? What....I'm sorry....but I didn't mean to...."
"No time. Gather your things, we're leaving."
He led her by the hand to the parts bay. Leading her into the lower areas of the bay, she was startled to find seven older hovercrafts in storage underneath the main parts bay. "What? Actually....leaving? We're leaving? What?"
"I'll explain when we're out of TTB space. Get in."
"Taka!"
"Now!"
She hesitated, then complied with Taka's order. He better have a good reason for this. I hope he knows what he's doing.
Taka was a bit more worried with whether his orders had been fulfilled. Upon inspection, the fourth hovercraft did indeed have a smaller hovercraft mounted underneath the aft portion of the main ship. Looks like they actually did it.
He climbed into the hovercraft and began the startup sequence. Screens flickered to life as power began to flow throughout the ship. An ancient version of ZionOS began to boot on all of the computers built into the ship. The pads began to flicker, before slowly beginning to glow with a weak light. This thing is old as sin! Where the hell did we find this piece of junk?
Livewire sat quietly in the navigator's chair. Thoughts coursed through her mind fast enough to cause her to become physically ill. She choked back feelings of nausea while Taka began the startup sequence.
"Here we go."
The hovercraft lifted up from the parts bay, carrying the smaller craft underneath it. The age of the craft apparently showed to whoever might glance at it. "And that's when she said, 'Give that man a day....' What the hell? A hovercraft launch?!" came crackling over the radio.
"Live, hold on..."
Taka punched the accelerator of the craft as had as he possibly could, rocketing them out of the parts bay into the cold air outside of Believer Base.
"Identify yourself!" crackled out of the radio. "You don't have authorization!"
Taka flipped off the radio, continuing his eastward journey. The turrets didn't even get the chance to turn on him before he had gotten out of their range.
"Taka....what the hell just happened? What the hell are we doing? And most importantly, what the hell is going to happen to us for what we just did back there?"
"I told you I wanted you to be my operator. You'll have your chance. We're going to broadcast depth."
"...."
"Listen, you're going to have to trust me. I just hope that Aaroun got my message..."
((I don't want this to die...I've got so many ideas for this....))

Taka sat in the pilot's seat. He didn't have much of a choice; he told Livewire everything. She had become ill and retired to the aft of the craft.
Don't blame her. Not in the slightest.
These thoughts coursed through his mind during the quiet flight, the only sounds coming from the control panel and the pads outside. Suddenly, a small red light and a beeping sound activated in the control panel; signs of an incoming transmission.
A message....good...Aaroun got my message. He opened the message to reveal Aaroun's reply.
Hope this helps.
Short, sweet, I like it. The attachment had a long name, mostly numbers and the like. He knew he wouldn't understand it; he's a mechanical engineer, not a code guru. But he knew what to do with it. He downloaded the attachment and began to encode it with an older machine encode. Afterwards, he sent the attachment with a small message to another hovercraft, knowing full well what he was setting in motion.
I certainly hope that she can keep her word...
