Dee I couldn't help but notice that entire article hasn't a good thing to say. Such as the lush environments. You've played a few Bioware games and you've loved em right?
Why would this be any different now? I think those guys seem to be either Bioware haters of Star Wars Haters. No game on earth can have you as an individual change the face of a game.... Silly nonsense!
Ill wait and have my own opinion thanks

The review is disappointing but hopefully, it will be better upon the release date. The flash points at least seem promising. Even the article seemed to like them. I hope it was wrong about the story plot though and combat system. I will keep my fingers crossed. Heres a video from the website about a flash point. Seems like those could be fun! www.swtor.com/media/trailers/taral-v-developer-walkthrough

Karaa have you seen the latest Jedi/ Sith Progression trailers? Shows me exactly how combat will be as well as the COMBAT video: Jedi Progression Trailer (@mmorpg.com): Jedi Progression TrailerSith Progression Trailer (@mmorpg.com): Sith Progression TrailerCombat in The Old Republic (@mmorpg.com): This combat trailer was put together one year ago and its come a long way since. Combat TrailerHope this helps to clear up the situation, because from what I've seen (not played it) it looks great so it can only be better than in these videos I believe anyway. Bioware don't know how to make a game wrong, and with the amount of time this game has been in development Lucasarts is in no hurry to get the game out because they know how good it will be.

Yeah i've seen those. It looks good. I can see how it might be a little boring for some of the ranged shooter players (like the article was talking about).
From the videos I watched on the website, it looks like the Jedi consulars are going to be more healers/ranged fighters. Does that sound about right? I could't find a good video that focused on them.
But the jedi knight combat looks gooooood! = P
I agree, I have't played a bad game by bioware yet so I'm hopeful. And of course, will be playing regardless of the reviews lol.

Well... here it is. fr.justin.tv/archive/archive_popout?id=285836649www.justin.tv/archive/archive_popout?id=285832120Maybe these links will not work by the time you read this, so i'll summarize briefly; This is a 1h30/2h gameplay video of The Old Republic, and... well... it speaks for itself. It's WoW, with a star wars appearance. Fetch this, kill x number of this, talk to him, go there, grind mobs, same HUD, same vendors, same skills, same looting concept, etc... I really don't see how this is any different than anything we've seen before... And the "story" thing is apparently only in flashpoints, which occur like... 5% of the time you'll be playing. Otherwise just brief convos with quest givers that don't impact anything. The rest is your typical fetch this and kill that quest. There is NOTHING you've never seen in there. I'll still try out the trial when it comes out and really decide then, but so far... from what i've seen in that video (hope it still up for you to see it), I'm putting a big X on ToR =/ I will be turning my eyes on the secret world, and hope it's as good and innovative as it says it is!

You know the one comment I hate so much.
"Its a WoW clone". I will say wise up! Please! I've watched 2 mins already and I see no UI like WoW. Where are the similarities. Can people not be smart enough to go oh ok well WoW spawned the easy to use user interface and games companies have taken design aspects from that game and used them in theirs, why? because its an easy to use interface. This is NOT the same!
The game has looked like it does in that video since the earlier trailers. Dee if you didn't see that it had similar design aspects to WoW then you were blind or not paying attention.
Finally I'm sorry if I cant accept a game until it has been released! The Old Republic i am VERY hyped for. But I am not saying its the greatest game ever nor the best thing since sliced bread nor the worst thing ive ever seen, in fact I have no opinion of it because I haven't played it.
The game isn't finished. You don't know what content will be put in between now and release. You don't know how it will play or look until release. So how can you have an opinion based on an early beta player/ press play?
Plus what did you expect? Full conversations with NPC vendors? What would that achieve? Its an MMORPG. Try not to forget that. This game is NOT Knights of the old Republic but it is very much like it.

i'm sure TOR will be an interesting game but what I think Dee was trying to say was don't get your hopes up. Which is good advice. And, Val, I don't think anyone will give up on this game before they try it, so good point and no worries. = )
Do you think they will make another RPG Kotor? I'm disappointed they didn't finish the storyline before putting out this mmo. = (

Ok I think KOTOR2 is so bugged!
Im on Nar Shadda havent been their for long. Some guy said ship was his so i said have it. he then runs off. After a while i head back to the ship and meet the character Visas in the crews quarters. Is this right? Should i have met her now or is the game screwed?
PS she was in medbay during a cutscene then is meditating asking me why i want to teach her etc. What the hell!

After a while i head back to the ship and meet the character Visas in the crews quarters. Is this right? Should i have met her now or is the game screwed? PS she was in medbay during a cutscene then is meditating asking me why i want to teach her etc. What the hell! She appears after a random planet once you have enough light/darkside points. It happened to you coincidentally after the attack on the Ebon Hawk by the mercs, but it can happen virtually anywhere at anytime. it's not a bug, just a party member that decides when she appears lol. As for ToR, the reason i'm very disappointed is because Bioware promised there wouldn't be any classic grinding and fetch quest, that it would be different than everything we've seen so far. Yet it is extremely familiar to pretty much everything WoW/Everquest/LotRO/etc related. I played Pre-CU SWG, champions and MxO because they were different than all the other fantasy MMOs out there. And that's why I liked them. The fact ToR is just "more of the same" with a star wars skin is very disappointing to me. And your comment about "what they have been showing since the beggining" is wrong. All the trailers so far contained almost exclusively shots from Flashpoint, which do look pretty cool. But they never showed any trailer about the way the game progressed outside of them (if they did, I missed that one). But this video shows a full 1h30 of what it actually looks like when you're not on a Flashpoint, and there's nothing new on the table here. As I said, i'll try out the demo/trial for sure, but i'll probably wait for a price-drop before buying it, unless i'm positively surprised by the trial. As previously mentioned, I do want that game to be fun and addictive, because i've been waiting for it for so long, and I want a star wars mmo that will be as fun as Pre-CU SWG was. But since 2009, most of the games i was looking forward to turned out to be crap (except for Portal 2 loll), and i'm just preparing myself in case this one turns out to be too. PS: A beta doesn't mean 1000 things are going to change until release. Beta is pretty much the final version, just with a shitload of bugs to fix lol. The few things that will change are aesthetics or adjustments and scaling mostly. The word you're looking for is Alpha. Do you think they will make another RPG Kotor? I'm disappointed they didn't finish the storyline before putting out this mmo. = ( Nope, there won't be a KotOR 3. Ever. Bioware said The Old Republic is going to be all we ever need to satisfy us kotor-related. It's supposed to answer everything about Revan. Oh, and by the way. Bioware retconned KotOR II: Sith Lords out of existance. It's not canon anymore. Like it never happened. No exile, no Bao-Dur, no Atton, no Visas. 2 reasons why: 1) The Sith Lords were developped by Obsidian Entertainment, not Bioware. And since they want complete control over the storyline, they dismissed what Obsidian had done for they're own view. 2) George Lucas apparently didn't like the whole "gray" point of view of the Force in KotOR II. In his book, I guess it's only light and dark. There's no middle ground (unlike Kreia who spent the whole game trying to tell you there was.)

Dee I point you to this Column posted a few days back which covers your points I feel. And I agree with what it has to say. MMORPG'S Cautious Optimism
